A 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga tour is a shorter version of the classic Marrakech to Merzouga itinerary, designed for travelers who have limited time in Morocco but still want to experience the beauty of the Sahara desert. Here is a typical itinerary for a 3-day Marrakech to Merzouga tour:
Marrakech – Merzouga
6 am from Marrakech
Your tour will start in Marrakech, where you will be picked up from your hotel or riad in the morning. You will then travel across the High Atlas Mountains and Tizi n’Tichka pass, stopping for photos and to admire the stunning views along the way. You will then visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified city made entirely of clay and straw, before continuing on to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert”. After lunch, you will drive along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing through Skoura and the Rose Valley before reaching Dades Valley where you will spend the night in a traditional guesthouse.
After breakfast at your guesthouse, you will continue your journey towards Merzouga, passing through Todra Gorge, where you can take a short hike along the river and admire the towering cliffs. You will then travel through the palm groves of Jorf and Erfoud before reaching Merzouga. Here you will take a camel ride through the sand dunes to reach your Berber campsite in the desert. You will then enjoy a traditional dinner and spend the night in a comfortable tent under the stars.
You will wake up early to watch the sunrise over the sand dunes and enjoy a traditional breakfast before riding your camels back to Merzouga. You will then travel back to Marrakech, passing through the Draa Valley and the High Atlas Mountains. You will arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon where your tour will end.
